Season 7 of Game of Thrones is here and let’s be honest, if anyone says they haven’t been waiting all year for this – they’re lying.

1. The Starks will finally get to play happy families… for a little while at least

In Season 6, Sansa finally reunited with her half-brother/cousin Jon Snow and it seems more than likely that the rest of the Stark clan will be in the North before long. The new trailer shows a figure that’s almost certainly Meera pulling Bran on his sled towards the gate of the Wall, so chances are Bran will be reunited with his siblings. He might just have something to tell Jon. The key to defeating the White Walkers maybe? As for good old Arya, she was last seen feeding Walder Frey’s sons to him in a pie and though it’s unclear where she’s headed next, it’s almost certain that she’ll have a little reunion of her own with her old friend Nymeria.

2. Daenerys will cross the Narrow Sea

After what seems like 21746744 seasons, Dany is finally setting sail for Westeros. Accompanied by Martells, Greyjoys, Tyrells, Dothraki, Unsullied and a stray Lannister in the form of Tyrion, of course. From a tactical standpoint, and because this is Game of Thrones and the showrunners love tormenting us, it seems unlikely that Dany will head straight to King’s Landing and Cersei. She will make a pit stop at Dragonstone – the Targaryen ancestral seat and most recently, Stannis Baratheon’s home before he went north to be slayed by Brienne – to talk tactics and possibly head North (hint, hint) before starting the invasion of King’s Landing.

3. Dany will fly to the North to see her nephew

Daenerys is headed North and that can only mean one thing – that she wants to form an alliance with none other than the King in the North and her brother’s secret son, Jon Snow. Davos “I’d Like Some Mutton” Seaworth has proven to be one of Jon’s most staunch allies and judging by the trailer, it looks like the Onion Knight will be the one to ally Jon and Dany. Dany and Jon’s alliance could also mean that we’ll finally see someone that’s not Dany ride a dragon! We all know by now that Jon is a secret Targaryen and it’s only fair that Rhaegar and Viserion get a chance to take to the skies too!

4. Briemund

Get yourself a man who looks at you the way Tormund looks at Brienne. Need I say more?

5. Littlefinger will be his sneaky self

Did anybody ever really question this though? Littlefinger admitted to Sansa that he wanted the Iron Throne for himself, something that we’ve all known since Day 1. Towards the end of Season 6, we saw Uncle Petyr whispering into Sansa’s ear every chance he got, encouraging her to claim the North as Ned Stark’s trueborn daughter. Petyr is intent on turning Sansa against Jon but let’s not forget that after all that she’s been through, this isn’t the naive innocent Sansa we were first introduced to in Season 1. It’s unlikely that she will let herself be manipulated by Baelish, especially not if it would mean betraying her own brother.

6. Cleganebowl

The Hound v The Mountain. Okay, so this is more wishful thinking than anything else but we’ve all been waiting for this for almost as long as Gendry’s been rowing his little boat. Unfortunately, there’s little to suggest that the Battle of the Brothers will happen this season. We can still hope though, can’t we? HYPEEEE!

7. Ed Sheeran the singer appears as a singer

Yep, you heard right! Everyone’s favourite redheaded crooner and massive Game of Thrones fan, Ed Sheeran, is set to make an appearance on Season 7. And he’s got Maisie Williams to thank for it! It has been revealed that the showrunners persuaded Ed to appear on the show after discovering that Maisie Williams a.k.a Arya was a huge fan. The singer spilled the beans in a recent interview, saying “I sing a song and then she goes, ‘Oh, that’s a nice song’, and I go, ‘It’s a new one’.”

So there you have it. My hopes, dreams and predictions for Season 7 of the greatest show ever made!
