As a student now is the perfect time to experiment with your style and express yourself in various ways. One of my favourite ways of expressing myself is through clothes!
I love everything about fashion, however, I do know as a student it can be hard on a budget and still look great for any occasion. Luckily, there are so many places that you can get great clothes from that won’t break your bank. In this post, I’m going to be showing you some quick really simple tips on how to get great clothes for cheap!
Your best friend – student discount
Let’s start off with some online places that give you sweet student discounts in majority of high street shops.
One thing every student has to do (imo) is sign up to a UNiDAYS account. It’s free so why not! They offer a range of weekly, monthly and yearly deals at places like Apple, ASOS, Urban Outfitters and Spotify. Alternatively, you can get an NUS or NUS Extra card (which you have to pay for) for either 1,2 or 3 years. Once purchased, you can search deals from 25% of cinema tickets to 26% off at National express. Great ikr??!
Online bargain hunting
Virtual marketplaces like Ebay, Amazon and Etsy have some great finds on there if you know where to look. What I love about these websites is that you can literally get anything you need on there, and you only have to do a few clicks from your laptop. Keep an eye out for sellers who put their prices down and also make sure you find out the location. Some sellers are from China and you don’t want to be waiting a whole month for a top!
Vintage is in
Finally my favourite place to get some great pieces from next to nothing is at charity and vintage shops! There are so many here in Birmingham, some of the best ones are in West Bromwich (Buses 74/75 from town take you straight there just one stop before West Bromwich bus station) and Harborne (Bus 22 from town also takes you to the High Street).
Charity shopping can be a bit of a hit and miss for some people but there are always some little gems hiding at the back of shops, you just have to dig deep and rummage through all the commotion! Perhaps you may see some items that have potential, never be afraid to customise clothing, there’s endless ways of recreating items and bringing them back to life. You can make something go from a 3/10 to a 10/10 just with scissors and a creative flare.
