There’s no getting away from it, Results Day is a roller coaster of emotions, full of ups and down and twists and turns. For some of you, you’ll be reaping the rewards of months of hard work. For others, things might not go as planned. Fear not, the Aston Life team has got some great advice to prepare you for what lies ahead:
1. Research
It’s a stressful time for everyone, even if you didn’t get the grades you wanted to get. The more preparation you can do for different eventualities you can do, the better you will be on the day. Research courses that interest you at other universities just in case and know their entry requirements – it could end up being a blessing in disguise.
2. Get ready
Okay, so you’ve found the universities you want to get in touch with. Now, it’s important to have the right information to hand – your Clearing number from UCAS Track, your grades, any questions you might want to ask. Places do go quickly at Clearing and some courses will get filled up very quickly, so make sure you’re up early and out of the blocks and be ready!
3. Get confirmation
Yay! You’ve found a great course at an even better university than the ones you applied for in the first place #winning.
4. Get on track
If you’ve received an offer then you need to enter it as your Clearing choice on UCAS Track after 3pm on Results Day. Typically, most universities will give you 12/48 hours during which the offer is valid. One very important thing to remember, no matter how many universities you have spoken too, you can only enter once Clearing choice, so make it count!
So…
You’ve got plenty of time on Results Day to contemplate the offers you’ve been made, so when 3pm comes around, you’re ready to add your choice and begin one of the most exciting journeys you will have.
We understand waiting for your results or going through Clearing can be a stressful and difficult time. If you’d like any advice or someone to talk too then the Aston Life team will be online throughout the week. Tweet us using @AstonUniversity or use the hashtag #HelloAstonUni!
