Although university is almost over for some, let’s explore how you have changed in your time at Aston from first year.

Fresher Events

First Year You

First year, First week! Why stop at a few nights out, why not go out every night this week and enjoy the Aston Fresher’s with all the other fresher’s who are looking to experience the ultimate Fresher’s week? How does that saying go again? Go big or go home!

 Final Year You

This week seems like such a drag, with all the noise and disorder when all you want to do is focus on writing your assignments, as well as catching up on last week’s episode of Suits. You’ll just have to lock yourself in your room until this week is over.

Meeting People

First Year You

That First-year experience of talking to every stranger about anything, is such a buzz! Finding your Fresher’s Week best friend can just be as easy as that. You will bond with anyone and everyone over pretty much everything.

Final Year You

By now, you have an established friendship circle, yet the idea of making friends is never too old, you introduce yourself in a much calmer way. The friends in your circle are more likely to last compared to those random people who didn’t make it beyond the point where the Fresher’s Week heat dies down.

Lecture

First Year You

At this stage, you’re probably very eager to learn and attend lectures about the modules you’re given, while writing down every word the lecturer says. It’s about going the extra mile and making effort with everything.

Final Year You

Even though this is an important year, have you learnt to carry on attending lectures? If so, you’ll be fine with revision as you’re on the ball and know what you’re doing. While the ones that skipped way too many classes, you can’t catch up on what you’ve missed now, It will involves you just staring blankly in front of you.

Assignments

First Year You

For most of you, First Year of University doesn’t contribute to your grade at all; it’s the period of “adjustment” for you. You’ll settle down and study harder later in your degree.

Final Year You

In your final year, every minute is too precious to waste. You’re probably stressing over that pile of assignments and the close deadlines you have coming up. Well this is your official welcome to Final Year! The library sessions will be in full swing early on now.

Going Out

First Year You

Way too many drunken endeavours and pub crawls to count. Your weeks are packed with endless nights out, rowdy pre-drinks in someone’s kitchen, and wreaking havoc on the dance floor. Nothing tires you out!

Final Year You

That time and ability to do multiple nights out in the week are now over, it’s time to settle down and work. Even if there is the rarest opportunity to have free time, you are always too tired to get dressed up, so you rock up to the club in jeans and sneakers instead. You seem to look forward to that greasy take away after the night out more than anything.

End of Year

First Year You

Has it been one whole year already? You seriously can’t wait for the exams to be over so you can enjoy the re-fresher’s events again, it’s obviously been too long! Heading home to be reunited with all your friends seems like a good idea. Let’s the next few years commence!

Final Year You

There’s nothing more than you would like in this world than to never leave university, ever. Who wants to embark on the journey to adulthood when you are perfectly comfortable with being a student forever? After graduation, the reality of taking on graduate jobs just doesn’t seem as fun as being here.
